What data should you capture first?
Before clearing faults, capture active/pending/history status, freeze-frame or event record, operating condition, supply voltage and faults present in other modules. Mapping one code directly to one part is an expensive shortcut.
Measurement chain
- Confirm the complaint and lock down the operating condition.
- Eliminate battery/supply, grounds and network health as shared causes.
- Compare commanded values with actual feedback.
- Validate sensor data with an independent physical measurement where possible.
- Test wiring/connectors under load, not continuity alone.
- After repair, verify under the same load, temperature and speed conditions.

Misdiagnosis traps
An implausible sensor does not prove the sensor itself is faulty. Reference voltage, ground offset, mechanical leakage, another system, software conditions or network interruption can produce the same symptom. Establish cause and effect with measurements before replacing parts.
