KIA Pride / Rio / K2 · Powertrain and driveline diagnostic dossier
A diagnostic plan that verifies engine/energy source, transmission and driveline identity in the same event capture.

- Research focus
- verify platform/generation, powertrain/energy/driveline and market-specific application identity against manufacturer/source records before applying parts, service procedures or chronic-fault claims.
Step-by-step checks
- Verify VIN/market, production period, engine/energy and transmission identity first.
- Capture DTCs, freeze-frame, operating temperature, load and driver demand at the fault event.
- Evaluate low-pressure supply, rail target/actual, injector balance, boost, EGR and aftertreatment together.
- Compare clutch slip, input/output speeds, mechatronic command and adaptations hot versus cold.
- Confirm the CVT family; separate requested/actual ratio, pressure and temperature behaviour from wrong-fluid/procedure risk.
How to verify the result
Do not make a parts decision from one DTC, sensor value or symptom. Reproduce the fault under the same temperature/load conditions and verify commanded-versus-actual data, electrical measurement and physical result together. Exact OEM limits should only be used when matched to the correct variant service source.
