• Wrong fluid/procedure or transmission-family identity distorts fault and fitment diagnosis.

Variant-specific system split

• CVT belt/chain-pulley architecture is not conflated with e-CVT planetary/motor-generator architecture.
• In AWD/4x4, tire circumference, transfer/differential, wheel speeds and torque-distribution request are kept as separate mechanical/electronic evidence.

Freeze frame / live data

• Freeze frame: first/last fault time, RPM, load, vehicle speed, system voltage, core temperatures and companion DTCs.
• Driveline: input/output speeds, commanded/actual ratio, clutch/TCC slip, fluid temperature, actuator/solenoid command and adaptations.
• Chassis/traction: four wheel speeds, steering angle, yaw/acceleration and AWD torque request/feedback on the same time base.

Root-cause split

• For CVT ratio faults, identify the architecture first; e-CVT motor-generator power split and belt/chain CVT hydraulic-pulley faults do not share the same diagnostic tree.
• For AWD binding/warning complaints, exclude tire-circumference or wheel-speed mismatch before condemning transfer/differential hardware.

What should be verified first?

Model name alone is insufficient. Do not generalize parts fitment, chronic issues or service procedures until production period, market, platform/generation, powertrain, transmission and controller identity are matched.
